Notts Open Mini Basketball League - Press Release 31.01.08
ILKESTON OUTLAWS 55 HUCKNALL HOTSHOTS 28Ilkeston Outlaws Mini Team travelled to the Portland Leisure Centre on Sunday for their penultimate league match of the season. The Outlaws started very strongly and soon had points on the board. Chip Humphreys and Zack Edwards took advantage of a weak Hucknall defence and by the end of the first quarter the Outlaws were 14 points up, 17:3. The second quarter was a more even contest with Outlaws adding 14 points to their opposition’s 10. Haydne Camina made the most of his scoring opportunities and played a strong offensive game. Chloe Barr played well in defence and Nathan Dalton added to the half time score of 31:13 to the Outlaws. The third quarter did not produce the runaway score of the first and Hucknall put up a fight but the Outlaws were too strong and were much better organised than their opposition. Aisling Ward played well in both defence and offence and found space on the floor. The score going into the fourth quarter was 45:23. The last quarter saw the Outlaws confirm their lead adding a further 10 points to their opponents 5. This was a good team performance from a much improved Outlaws mini team. The players have one more league match next Sunday followed by two tournaments in April before the majority move up into U14 teams. Girls and boys wishing to play basketball from age 8 to 18 should contact 0115 9326720 for details.
